Jennifer was born at Glenmore Station situated on the western shores of Lake Tekapo. She lived all her life in South Canterbury, as an adult, primary school teaching but she always considered Lake Tekapo her home. She was held in high regard by both her pupils and their parents many of whom visited her throughout her life.
Jennifer's interest in and commitment to the Lake Tekapo Church of the Good Shepherd spans many decades. Her grandfather donated the land for the church and her father with two others financed the actual building of the church. Jennifer served on the vestry, organised the guides and supervised the general maintenance of the church and its surrounds. This was a lifetime's commitment. Jennifer was very aware of the increasing maintenance demands on this little church with its huge volume of visitors.
